Shawn Cotton and Maude Nepveu Villeneuve’s project is presented in collaboration with La Serre – Arts Vivants and Arcmtl. Theme : Health and Quality of Life.
The act of writing opens up infinite possibilities for the construction of new worlds and new interpretations. Starting from universal or specific themes, the writer creates objects to be randomly thrown out there for future interactions with readers. Love and death, youth and nostalgia, universality and utopia; there are as many interpretations as there are readers. The spectacle, however grandiose it appears, is solitary and intimate. With the Floating Objectsproject, Maude Nepveu-Villeneuve and Shawn Cotton extrapolate on the theme of health and quality of life by being inspired by questions which surround the access to the river and offer singular visions of a living Montreal.
A beautifully printed version of the work, designed by the artisanal print collective L’abricot, will be unveiled at the event. In addition to a reading by the authors, Julien Boisseau and Catherine Ouellet-Cummings of L’abricot will demonstrate how the book was created with a hand-press with which the public can print a flyer during the event.
This project is a collaboration between ARCMTL and POSSIBLES.
POSSIBLES is part of the Celebration of Montreal’s 375th Anniversary official programming.
